SAS is preparing a study of energy poverty, which Slovakia still does not have
“A systemic and sustainable definition of energy poverty, created on the basis of data taking into account the situation in Slovakia, is key to taking targeted measures to gradually eliminate it.“said Gáliková. The study is created with the institutional support of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
Data for the study will be provided by the Slovak Gas Industry (SPP), Západoslovenská energetika, Stredoslovenská energetika, and the distribution company SPP – Distribúcia, Západoslovenská distribučná, Stredoslovenská distribučná and Východoslovenská distribučná. “Along with this data, we will provide us with additional information taking into account their experience in energy business practice. The in-depth study will take into account not only electricity and gas costs but also heat costs from other sources such as coal and wood.”“explained Dušana Dokupilová from the Prognostic Institute of the Center for Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
Gáliková noted the necessary data for the scientific community of the energy company on the basis of a concluded contract. It continues that the results of the study should be known by the end of the year. The results subsequently provide the relevant state authorities as a basis for compensating for systemic and sustainable measures to combat energy poverty.
In addition to the study, according to the SAS and energy drugs, measures must be taken to address the adverse effects of increasing price preparation on the most vulnerable groups.
