elected communists denounce a degradation of the service
Repeated delays, canceled trains: elected Communists from the Occitanie Region ask SNCF Réseau and the government to make investments to improve service on the Toulouse-Pau line.
Works on the line, strikes, frost, breakdowns, accidents… There is no shortage of reasons to explain the many malfunctions of the railway line between Toulouse and Pau.
Elected CRC (Communists, Republicans and Citizens) of the Occitanie Region are sounding the alarm. In a press release, they challenge the government and SNCF Réseau.
“We ask the SNCF to respect its commitments vis-à-vis the users of the Pau-Toulouse line, to make the trains circular and to put in place the technical and human resources so that this line is once again reliable.“
The elected officials also put an online petition: TER Pau-Toulouse line: Stop the chaos
“Despite the work that has taken place over the years, despite the ever-increasing investments and the increase in supply driven by the Occitanie region: the trains are experiencing more and more delays when they are not cancelled.“
And to add:From January to May, we have calculated between Toulouse and Montréjeau no less than 73 trains removed, as for the time lost in delays it amounts to more than one hundred hours. Today, after the elimination of around twenty SNCF agent jobs on our line, it is our jobs that are threatened.
Today, we suffer repeated failures of the operating system at a discount that was set up by the SNCF management. “
This line is in high demand, particularly between Muret and Toulouse. Every year, 2 million passengers use it.
In Occitanie, the modernization by section of the line between Tarbes and Toulouse began in 2017. SNCF Réseau is funding this work to the tune of 450 million euros.
A vast project which consists of replacing 300 kilometers of tracks, changing the catenary wires and the poles. From October, work will be concentrated between Montréjeau and Tarbes. This may cause some inconvenience for users.
