Toulouse. Jeanne d’Arc metro station closed for more than a month
The Jeanne d’Arc metro station in downtown Toulouse will be closed for more than a month from June 1. It will be under construction for the replacement of the escalators.
“Gare de Prochaine…” is not Joan of Arc. The Jeanne d’Arc metro station, located in downtown Toulouse, is closed to the public from Wednesday June 1. The metro trains no longer serve this station in connection with several bus linesincluding the L9, 39, 45, or the Airport Shuttle.
This situation will last a month and a half, until July 17. “The Jeanne d’Arc metro station will be closed due to the replacement of its escalators”, explains Tisséo. Users could go through the Jean Jaurès or Compans Caffarelli stations. They can also take the high-frequency bus lines crossing Linéo 1 and 9. But the latter only goes in the direction of Jean Jaurès.
The Pink City public transport operator will replace the escalators at this station. ” This replacement is part of an escalator renovation plan which started at the end of 2020 with the Ramonville station. Its purpose is to improve the comfort and safety of its travellers”, according to the president of Tisséo Jean-Michel Lattes.
The escalators of all metro stations, including Jeanne d’Arc, will be replaced
TIsseo has decided to replace all the metro line B escalators due to regular breakdowns. “The recurrent breakdowns on the devices are the consequence of a design defect, but also of an insufficiency of the structure of the device itself and of a poor quality of the various organs”, assures Flavien Rousseau, head of Tisséo Collectivités project for this operation. This material was provided by a company with which Tisséo no longer works. “We have been on trial against them for five years,” Jean-Michel Lattes told the Journal Toulousain.
The union committee of May 25, 2016, approved a general strategy aimed at planning the replacement of all the escalators of the Toulouse metro. By 2030, all escalators on lines A and B will be replaced by new models, i.e. 120 new escalators.
