The town hall of Toulouse will not lend equipment this year for the music festival
This makes the opposition of the town hall of Toulouse jump, in a context that is still electoral, it must be remembered. The town hall of Toulouse has just announced to all those who have submitted an application for the music festival 2022, that it will only bring “help no logistics or electrical connection” this year for the June 21 event. “Only Barriers” could be provided. Jonnhy Dunal, city councilor in charge of events and security, explains the situation.
Too many requests received so equipment for no one
After two years weighed down by the Covid epidemic, the town hall of Toulouse explains that it is facing an explosion of requests for the 2022 edition of the music festival. “We have 30% more requests so we cannot satisfy all these requests in terms of logistics, supply of equipment. So, for equal treatment, I have decided not to lend it to anyone”, announces Jonnhy Dunal. More than 300 applications have been submitted with the town hall of Toulouse, i.e. 30% more than in 2019.

Jonnhy Dunal recalls that other events take place on June 21: “There are other events on the 21st, these events are entitled to material”. The municipal councilor invites the organizers of the music festival “to rediscover the initial concept of this party, that is to say, to try to be more modest in the services”.
The neighborhood committees with their beaks in the water
The groups and neighborhood committees therefore gave the news three weeks before the music festival. This is the case of the Bien Vivre neighborhood association in Saint-Aubin, of which Olivier Greff is a member: “What shocks us is to learn the news three weeks before D-Day. We can’t go back, we are committed with artists, with service providers so we don’t know how we’re going to do without the City Without the City, no electricity, no stage, so it’s more than a blow.”
“We would be the fourth city in France in which the music festival would not be at all in collaboration with the City, it’s insane.” —Olivier Greff
For Olivier Greff, this decision goes against the previous ones: “The town hall had announced that it wanted things to be organized in the neighborhoods. It was ready to support them as it did for July 14, it is a sign for us that instead of centralizing everything in one place, we decentralized the events in the neighborhoods”.
The opposition denounces the austerity policy of Jean-Luc Moudenc
“An incomprehensible decision at the end of two years of pandemic, convincing for the world of culture, but also for the whole of the population, deprived of places of celebrations and reunions”, writes the opposition group “Alternative Municipaliste Citizen” in a press release. For these left-wing elected officials, this decision is “the price of the budgetary austerity desired by the Mayor, which is notably illustrated by staff reductions”.
