King opens renovated business house the Malietoren
His Majesty the King officially opens the renovated Malietoren on Friday 24 June (11:00-12:30); the business center of the Netherlands and the headquarters of business organizations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland. Together with all affiliated branches, they now represent more than 300,000 companies and about 90% of employment in the commercial sector. From freelancers to small and large concerns.

Last December it was exactly 25 years ago that the Malietoren was officially opened when VNO-NCW moved in as the main tenant. After a renovation, now on June 24, the find reopening of the building official place by the King.
The Malietoren
This design by the architects Jan Benthem and Mels Crouwel was one of the most striking buildings in The Hague when it opened in 1997. It still occupies a prominent place in the changing skyline of The Hague today. The function of the Malietoren has developed over the years. From a standard office building to a meeting place for entrepreneurs from all sectors of the Dutch economy with a hypermodern conference center and restaurant on the ground floor (De Malielobby). This makes it an accessible and beautiful new meeting place for entrepreneurs, politicians and other social organizations in the heart of The Hague.

The King performs an opening act just after 11:00. Following this, Ingrid Thijssen (chairman VNO-NCW) and Jacco Vonhof (chairman MKB-Nederland) will speak. Afterwards, the King is given a tour of a project festival. The King receives an explanation of various projects that the business organizations are developing to stimulate broad prosperity in the Netherlands. Finally, the King will discuss the growth, sustainability and inclusiveness of the themes with a number of entrepreneurs. After the departure of the King (12.30), the press will also have the opportunity to visit the project festival.
