Toulouse: revealed by Bigflo&Oli, rapper LauCarré thanks the two brothers
Noticed two years ago in the first part of the charity concert given by Bigflo & Oli at the Zénith, LauCarré, barely 21 years old, takes off with a headlining tour and a first album to come soon.
Passages on the radio, first parts then the consecration. Rapper LauCarré is living his childhood dream. It is on view in concert halls. It is produced on Saturday at the Écluse Saint-Pierre in Toulouse. Discovery and enthusiasm for a very promising artist…
Have music and rap always had a place in your family universe?
Absolutely not ! My mom didn’t listen to music at all, I got her to and there was no musical fiber in the family. It was really my dating in college that made me listen to a lot of rap, and it went from there. I liked the delirium and I went into it.
And then the influence of Sexion d’Assaut (1) pushed you to get involved in rap…
Yes, that’s the trigger. I must have been 15 and I quickly said to myself that I wanted to do the same thing as them. At first I copied their lyrics so I acted like it was my lyrics but it wasn’t mine! (laughs) I rap their lyrics and then one day I started writing my own songs. I had this love with friends in my first Cité Briques Rouges group and I think I was the only one to have kept this little flame, to have continued in high school and still today.
Did you put your studies at a disadvantage?
I still wanted to continue my studies as long as I could. I had my Bac ES hands down then I also had my BTS and there currently I am with my Bac + 2 so I find it very cool not to have let go from the first signing of a contract with a record company. This is important because many would have already been fired up and might have stopped everything to access their dream. But, I think it’s risky. And then the Corona arrived and, that’s the good side, it allowed me to better concentrate on studies since all the concerts were canceled, it allowed me to have my BTS.
Then a first EP was released…
Yes on October 2, 2020 I released a first EP of 7 titles and I really liked the adventure. It was my first project, I went to the studio, it’s something symbolic. And then I was very happy with the reviews, it was well liked and thanks to that I was able to fill rooms, even if it was two years later, like La Boule Noire in Paris, La Marquise in Lyon and Toulouse on May 28 I’m in concert at the top of the bill thanks to this EP which dates back two years. I find it super cool and people are there, in Paris it was full as in Lyon, it’s super beautiful!
And all that is a bit the fault of some Bigflo and Oli, isn’t it? !
Ah yes, it was an essential encounter on my musical journey. I had this desire to succeed in music but it seemed very utopian to me before. So when they arrived I had this click, I realized that it was possible. My friends could tell me that it was good to make me happy but there it came from pros like Bigflo and Oli, it was important and that took everything apart.
