Toulouse: A breakdance group performed in a chapel
A Toulouse hip-hop team gathered to dance in the Saint-Michel chapel.
“We wanted an original place, not just a wall with graffiti,” says François Gustave, founder of the Brigade Fantome. This squad of about fifteen Hip-hop dancers shot a video in a place with a particular architecture, the Saint-Michel chapel. A choice that François alias Ghost explains by a desire to dance in Toulouse places that are little known or difficult to recognize. If the group specializing in break dancing shoots videos about once a year, the one filmed in the chapel visits to “mark the occasion because the team is growing”.
This shoot was also an opportunity to honor local actors. Each dancer was dressed in pieces from the collection created by Yeba Gear, a Toulouse brand, in collaboration with the brigade. “The video cameraman and editor, Christophe Piguel, is also from Toulouse,” adds François. An important inking in the eyes of the dancers who work regularly with institutions in the pink city, such as the town hall. The chapel, municipal hall, has also been reserved in this way.
“If we want to put Toulouse forward, it’s because it’s us, our city, our life”, summarizes the dancer. Where will the Phantom Troupe spawn next?
