Employees of the Continental Basso Cambo site in Toulouse still on strike
The personnel of the automotive supplier Continental of Basso Cambo in Toulouse voted to continue the strike movement this Monday, May 30. Employees are demanding wage increases.
Started on May 19, the strike movement of Continental employees at the Basso Cambo site in Toulouse continues. Strikers pressure management for wage increases. Discussions between management and staff representatives have not yet been concluded. This Monday, May 30, 2022, some of the employees gathered in front of the main entrance to the site.
For more than a week, production has been practically at a standstill. 90% of the site’s 1,500 employees are on strike. “Here on the product of tire sensors, on-board computers, automotive electronics. There are a few intermediaries and line managers who ensure the minimum but no part can come out of the chains”, explains Stéphane Jaïch, Continental’s CGT delegate.
At the start of the conflict, the trade unions demanded an increase of €300 for all employees. Contacted this Monday morning, Stéphane Jaïch confirmed that the claims have dropped, now speaking of 100 euros per employee. “But with the current inflation, it will take another increase during the year.”
According to the CGT, the management of the company would propose a 2.5% increase with a minimum of 75 euros for low salaries. Discussions were to continue today. The management remains unreachable for the moment.
