The transition to the digital economy is the “great opportunity for Portugal” — DNOTICIAS.PT
During the presentation of the ‘#CREATEFUNCHAL’ event, the President of the Government, Miguel Albuquerque, said that the digital transition is the “great opportunity for Portugal to be central again and a highly competitive economy in economic terms”.
In order for this not to happen, a strategy will be needed, “the sense of considering all the advantages of the digital transition”.

“Here is what is happening in the world, technology exceeds our ability to understand, that is, technology is experiencing exponential growth, no one knows what will happen, but we have to prepare ourselves as new generations to deal with these advances”.

He also said that: “What is happening in terms of technology is extraordinary and, for that very reason, (…) the world that we are going to have or that we are going to, in the coming years, is a world with extraordinary challenges, but It’s a good world.”
The president of the GR advanced that those who do not follow these technological changes, are “behind”.
Recall, this week, Albuquerque said that technology fees have been reduced that these could be a potential factor in introducing companies to the region.
“If we manage to put technology at 3%, we would bring all the big American companies here.”
Currently, the technological ones, in Madeira, “300 million euros”, which within “five years will represent tourism”, he said.
Thus, Madeira would not be dependent on the tourist sector.
“Not being dependent only on tourism and advancing as technologies based here, having a volume of 500 million business, and being Madeira’s main activity”.
