Inmate punches police officer in courthouse jails
An inmate hit a policeman in the jails of the Toulouse courthouse. He was tried by the criminal court.
The man was waiting in the basement of the courthouse when he got angry and hit the official. As related The Dispatchthe scene was recorded by CCTV cameras.
The policeman’s lawyer explains: “You come out of your cell calmly and three seconds later, you turn around and hit yourself. And contrary to what you claim, there was never any provocation. Whatever the reason, you can’t headbutt and threaten that policeman with death.”
The 30-year-old man ended up saying “I wanted a cigarette”. The president is worried “we don’t give it to you and you hit”. The policeman’s lawyer is claiming 700 euros in damages and 400 euros for costs. The representative of the public prosecutor’s office is asking for six months in prison.
For the detainee’s lawyer “What interest? A reprieve with obligations would be better suited. But the court follows the requisitions and condemns him to six months in prison with a warrant of committal. He will also have to pay 500 euros in damages to his victim and 400 euros for his legal costs.
