Schools of Venice create 9 miniatures of the S. Marco bell tower – Veneto


Exhibited May 26 in the square, they will participate in a social competition


(ANSA) – VENICE, MAY 26 – ‘Venezia è Favolosa’ started on May 26, an event organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the collapse of the bell tower of San Marco, during which the nine schools of Venice and the mainland exhibit as many reproductions in miniature of the ‘paron de casa’, almost two meters high and created from scratch by 200 children. To complete the works, nine mosaics created with the rubble of the tower.

To inaugurate the appointment, the parade on the Grand Canal of one of the works, escorted by Gabriele Longo’s Hydrogen Boat with 300 “tochetin” sweets on board, which will be delivered to young artists in Piazza San Marco. At 12, at the sound of the bells, the participatory competition on the social networks ‘like and love’ will start, for which 30,000 online registrations are expected to vote for the best mosaics and school bell towers.

Next to the Caffè Florian, which supports the event, nine original mosaics will be exhibited on trestles, made with the small pieces of the bell tower found by the schools during the treasure hunt held on the occasion of the ‘National Sea Day’ last 11 April, at the San Nicolò beach on the Lido of Venice (where the remains of the collapsed bell tower were disposed of). During the morning, there are also games for children, who can take turns climbing to the top of the bell tower.
