Still I get up launches “together”, the educational format for Italian schools
Starting from its pedagogical approach, the proposes a free and versatile course in Italian to students of all organizations. and the right to education: this is Insieme, the new educational format of Still I Rise designed for schools of all levels, universities, training institutes and youth associations in Italian. The program will be available free of charge in virtual and asynchronous mode from September 2022. «This new educational format was created thanks to the requests and testimonies of many teachers who have written to us over the years. They proposed meetings, invited us to their classes to be able to talk about our work, to be able to tell about our projects, approaches and pedagogues: not being able to do it pedagogical, we decided to build together », explains Rachele Pizzi, Coordinator of the school project. “We have chosen to use a language suitable for children, capable of respecting the evolutionary process of a very large population of students, ranging from 8 to 18 years old”. The program is characterized by a strong versatility: each educator can modulate the path by choosing the phases most suited to their class, the topics to be studied in depth and the time they decide to dedicate. The first phase of the format includes two moments: Informare, dedicated to educators, offers an overview of the educational and didactic approach used by Still I Rise teachers in schools in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Greece and North West Syria. Raising awareness, to be shared with students, focuses on what Still I Rise is and the importance of the Right to Education. The second phase is divided into three proposals: Lettura provides an in-depth study on the books of Nicolò Govoni, with the possibility of participating in a national meeting with the author which will take place online within the school year 2022/23; Photography exposes the class to the study of the photographic exhibition Through Our Eyes – Through Our Eyes, offering practical activities; Citizenship develops and enriches the MIUR’s Citizenship & Constitution curricular educational path, addressing the issue of the Right to Education, cornerstone of Still I Rise’s mission. At the end of all courses, the group of pupils will receive a Still I Rise Certificate of Builders & Constructors of Change. “We have always given great weight to awareness projects within the Italian educational context”, concludes Rachele Pizzi. “We started from this idea: if on the one hand Still I Rise is committed to building quality schools for those who – due to wars, violence and poverty – unfortunately come into life with an account to settle, on the other this strong commitment flanked by a project that had as its objective that of educating to sensitize the new generations, here in our country, on the issues of immigration, hospitality and inclusion “.
