Roland Wesche and Herbert Esper at the half marathon in Salzburg
Region. On the second weekend in May, many LG’ler poured out for the fun run and introduced a number of podium places. For the largest group (23 active) they were awarded at the Ahr Valley Run in Vettelhoven in the county. They were honored with delicious drinks and spreads from the region.
The Ahr Valley Run was organized by the Grafschafter Spvgg together with the running clubs of SV Dernau and SV Hönningen. The reason for this was the consequences of the flood disaster on the Ahr, which made it impossible for the clubs based there to offer sporting events themselves (including the popular runs “Red Wine Hiking Trail” and “Around the Teufelsley”). For this reason, the county running club thought about holding a joint event with the Ahr clubs and offering a route that started in the county and ran above Dernau. This offered great views of the Ahr Valley. The extent of the disaster is still clearly visible.
For the running friends of the LG Laacher See, the fun runs on the Ahr were always something special. The routes were sometimes a bit demanding, but the pleasant flair and the nice togetherness always made the activities quickly forgotten.
LG Laacher See has been running a beginner and returnee course for around six weeks. Beate Bohr, Nicole Tullius, Barbara König and Tanja Ewen face the challenge of the 5 km run in the county. The summer temperatures don’t exactly make it easy for the athletes. Nevertheless, they reeled off their kilometers and arrived at the finish line a bit exhausted but happy. Here they were warmly welcomed by the club colleagues of the LG Laacher See.
Three women from the LG Laacher See won their age groups in the 10 km race. These were Claudia Müller (W55, 65:50 min.), Anita Massion (W60, 62:54 min.) and Ulrike Große (W65, 70:51 min.). Results at https://my.raceresult.com/190171/results.
The half marathon in Salzburg is the annual highlight for Herbert Esper (2:13:04 hours) and Roland Wesche (2:17:04 hours) after their “training camp” in Bad Füssing.
