In Verona, thanks to the Pnrr, funding of six and a half million euros for the social sector

Sugar Mizzy May 24, 2022

Minor families, the elderly, people with disabilities or homelessness, workers, local services adopted to meet the new needs of society. Funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) which will arrive in Verona in the coming months for social projects amounts to 6 million and 500 thousand euros. The Municipality announces it in a note. Nine interventions approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies. Among the initiatives also the prevention of the burn out phenomenon (work stress syndrome) among social workers. The funds, which fall within the Pnrr’s Mission 5 “Social inclusion”, are destined for the 36 Municipalities belonging to Districts 1 and 2 of the Ulss 9 Scaligera Company, of which Verona is the leader.

These, again according to the note of the Municipality of Verona, are the projects presented that have received the pass from the ministry:

  • Families. Program to prevent family removal of minors in support of parenting skills with funding of 211,500 euros.
  • Senior citizens. Redevelopment of apartments, residential structures and strengthening of the integrated network for the domicile of the elderly with 2,460,000 euros. Loan of 330 thousand euros for the activation and strengthening of assistance services in favor of elderly people who are not self-sufficient or in fragile conditions, in need of “protected discharge” to facilitate the return home from the hospital.
  • Workers. Strengthening of social services and prevention of the burn out phenomenon among social workers with 210,000 euros. Double project for the independent life, work and free time of people with disabilities for 1,200,000 euros.
  • poverty. Construction of housing / reception facilities for people with severe social marginalization and homelessness, for 710,000 euros. Construction of a 24-hour post-acute care facility for homeless people in conditions of physical frailty or in health severely compromised by street life who have undergone hospitalization or surgery, funding of 300,000 euros. Construction of service centers and post stations for homeless people for € 1,090,000.

To illustrate all the projects that will soon be activated the mayor, the councilor for Social Services and the director of the Social Health Services of Ulss9 Raffaele Grottaglie. “The family has always been the goal to which we work with commitment – said the mayor Federico Sboarina on the sidelines of the press conference -. These enormous resources will allow us to guarantee additional services to the many who are already operational. In the case of the elderly we will give a great acceleration to a modality we believe in, which is home care. Our grandparents must be enabled to stay at home with the necessary services. Also important is the expansion of the facilities for those who live in extreme margins, the increase in available places has already taken place, but others have been well used “.

“A significant sum will arrive in Verona that will allow us to bear the costs of 9 important projects – said the councilor for Social Services -. It is a great satisfaction to see all the requests we have made approved, to cover an ever-increasing slice of real margins and difficulties. Some of which have been exacerbated by the pandemic and the economic crisis. These include the prevention of stress for health workers, but also a mailbox for homeless people, a service that has never been done before “.

“With these funds we intend to promote and also the independent life of people with disabilities – added Grottola -. As well as their sociability thanks to the help of home automation. We set up a sharing table from which the road emerged from. I thank all the companies in the third sector who have joined for their willingness ».
