After fleeing the police: man fell to his death – region
ALTSTÄTTEN – On Monday afternoon, the cantonal police transported a 35-year-old man with mental problems to a psychiatric clinic. He was able to escape, according to the press release from Monday evening. “The man initially fled to a house roof on Trogenerstrasse. Shortly after 5 p.m. he fell down and was fatally injured,” said the police.
In the afternoon, a doctor ordered caring accommodation for a 35-year-old man. Before being transported to the psychiatric clinic, the Kapo patrol allows the man to smoke a cigarette in front of the hospital. The hand vessels were loosened.
“He used this moment to lash out wildly and flee,” the broadcast continued. He quickly disappeared from the police’s field of vision. After the search was initiated immediately, the man was confronted again on Trogenerstrasse. He then fled to the roof of a house.
Several patrols from the St. Gallen cantonal police and the rescue team were deployed. Various police specialists moved out.
Unsuccessful negotiations
The man changed his location on the roofs of Trogenerstrasse several times and also went into the properties.
The canton police negotiating group was able to get in touch with him and conduct the conversation. But the man could not be persuaded to leave the roof of the house.
Shortly before 5 p.m. he falls from several meters into the depths.
“Despite the medical care that was initiated immediately, only the death of the 35-year-old Swiss man who lived in the area could be determined,” it concludes.
