Driver Armindo Araújo (Skoda Fábia) ended the 55th edition of the Rally de Portugal as the best Portuguese rider, beating the Algarve’s Ricardo Teodósio (Hyundai i20) by 22.5 seconds.
In this national competition, the status of best national representative, despite the classification of the Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR), having Tedósio’s victory confirmed on Friday with the victory of Araújo took the best after having assumed the final command of the Saturday day.
This Sunday morning, the pilot from Santo Tirso did better than Teodósio in three of the five specials, despite having only won one. José Pedro Fontes, in Citroën C3, won like the other two.
The Algarve rider was the fastest of the Portuguese in two of the five stages on Sunday.
Thus, Araújo finished 14th overall, 21.36.8 seconds behind the winner, with Teodósio close behind, 22.5 seconds behind.
Armindo Araújo was also closed fifth in WRC2, with Ricardo Teodósio in sixth.
