VENICE – Bertram’s wonderful season is embellished with a historic championship semi-final. Tortona wins (60-72) also game 4 at Taliercio (the third consecutive victory in the series) and the match against Venice ended 3-1. Twenty-four years after Reggio Emilia (1997-98 season) a newly promoted player returns to win a playoff semifinal (in history it has only happened five times). Perhaps this data is enough to understand the scope of this sporting enterprise.
The match
Bertram starts again from race 3. Ideas and conviction. With more Macura, a little in the shade in previous games, which starts scoring. Venice offers nothing new. At the first stop Leoni forward 18-12. Reyer moves a little and begins to shoulder. Tortona holds up and responds with Daum And Cain. We arrive at the interval at 31-34 with Tortona who manages to put out the guns of the Umana (I crave wrong a lot and Tuna fish with only 2 points).
Tortona seems to be playing cat and mouse a bit. Opportunities to stretch in a decisive way can stretch us some mistakes too much the same. Thus the advantage increases to 8 points in the 30th minute. In evidence Severini.
The fourth of the truth. Wright beats Theodore and signs the maximum advantage over the +11 of the Bertram. Tortona has more energy, Venice seems to be dying out. Sale the presence of Cannon (8 points) e Filly. Venice of pride until -8 (60-68) 2 ‘from the siren. Tortona in the bonus goes to the line and makes no mistake. The game slips and from the stands of the Taliercio rises the shout “Leoni-Leoni” of the many Turin fans who have arrived in Mestre to watch the umpteenth exploit of the bianconeri.
The voices
Marco Ramondino – also complimenting the coach Meo Sacchetti after the game. “We are super proud of the group of players we have and for the club that has invested economically and in passion. The virtue? If they have to beat us they have to play their best match ”.
Ex of the race Ariel Filloy: “Our coach left us the games he won this season before the game to explain that we weren’t here by chance. And they did it, as for the whole season, playing together “.
