Ceccaroni and Crescentini in Manchester for the WTE Senior Championships 2022
There is only one month left for the 1st Championship reserved for the Small States of Europe, (10 Nations present) organized here in the Republic for the 18th and 19th of June under the supervision of the WTE (World Taekwondo Europe), where the San Marino team will field the 14 athletes including cadets, juniors and seniors, but, just to keep fit, we have immediately a new international event of great prestige: the WTE Championship 2022 (G-4) in Manchester (ENG) next weekend 19 – 22/05/2022, reserved for seniors. There will be two white-blue representatives who will go down for the fight on the English tatami, in a G-4 race (which therefore provides 40 points in the world ranking for the winner): the veteran Michele Ceccaroni (4th dan -68 kg. Senior) currently at no. 97 of the world ranking, as well as captain of the national team and the very young seventeen year old Stefano Crescentini (1st dan -74 kg – no world ranking), who, although he is still a junior, on this occasion will fight in the higher category. They will be followed, as usual, on the competition octagon by the National Master and Coach Secondo Bernardi (6th dan). It will be a very tough tournament because in Europe there are 80% of the athletes registered in the top 100 in the world and at least 5 (of both categories) in the top 10. Below, after the home European Championship in mid-June, there will be a small competitive break that will precede the 19th Edition of the Mediterranean Games in Oran (Algeria), scheduled for early July. So for all the athletes of the Titan still a breathless period, in view of the sports competitions. The workouts continue steadily and have been perfected thanks also to the intervention of the Grand Master Park Young Ghil (cn9 dan) who has just been our guest to give us his precious suggestions. A challenging 2022 for the whole Club that has given us satisfactions, however, starting with the black belt exams a few weeks ago and the results achieved so far, by agonists and amateurs of this brilliant Martial Art and Olympic Sport.
