The results of the Bonhams de Monaco sale
“Les Grandes Marques à Monaco”, the auction by Bonhams at the Fairmont Hotel in the Principality, totaled more than 11.6 million euros in transactions.
This sale, bringing together 51 lots, including 36 prestige and collector cars, was a great success with collectors. Only twelve of these lots failed to change ownership at the end of the event.
As expected, the 1927 Bugatti Type 35B “matching numbers” offered to the highest bidder achieved the best result of the meeting by being awarded €2,000,000, exactly the lowest estimate it had made. the object before the sale.
Behind the competitor from Molsheim, a 1975 Ferrari 275 GTS that belonged to Jean-Pierre Beltoise found a buyer for €1,495,000, which allowed him to beat a copy of the unique Porsche 959 Komfort on the Monegasque podium. less than 26,000 km covered. This vehicle, purchased new in 1988 by Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani of Qatar, was sold for €1,437,500.
Another Porsche chassis, in this case a 1997 911 GT2 homologated for road use (57 examples produced), also distinguished itself during this Monegasque meeting by also crossing the million euro mark (1 €046,500).
Most of the vehicles offered for sale have recorded good results, such as a 1929 Bugatti Type 37 which seduced a collector for €862,500, or a 1970 Jaguar Type E Series II Roadster, used on the set of the film “Le Mans” by the company SOLAR Productions, which for its part changed ownership for €109,250.
Finally, among the competition models, we note the sale of the first Grand Prix car created by Sir Jack Brabham, a Brabham-Climax BT3 Formula 1 chassis (1962), for €385,250, that of an AC Ace Bristol Roadster from 1956 sold for €460,000, or the sale of a Williams-Supertec Renault FW21 Formula 1 single-seater driven during the 1999 season by Alex Zanardi, sold here for €362,250.
The next sale dedicated to vintage cars organized by Bonhams will be held on June 4 and 5 as part of the Concours d’Élégance in Greenwich (USA).
