The deputy mayor of Toulouse and Rémi Branco are working on an agricultural partnership between Toulouse and the Lot – Medialot
First milestones laid.
Recently visiting the Lot, Jean-Jacques Bolzan, deputy to Jean-Luc Moudenc, mayor of Toulouse, in charge of eating well and Rémi Branco, vice-president of the Lot departmental council in charge of agriculture, and legislative candidate paved the way for a promising agricultural partnership between the two communities. Following the arrival of a group of Lotois farmers (organic farmers from Quercy) at the Toulouse MIN last January, the two elected officials wish to further develop their agricultural and commercial links.
“The arrival of Jean-Jacques Bolzan and the Toulouse metropolis in the Lot is a strong signal. The Lot produces 5 times what it consumes. The challenge for our agriculture, beyond the short circuits that we are developing, is to find value for our farmers, which is moreover in a very difficult period for them. Toulouse and its one million inhabitants are a market of the future for us. I am happy and proud that Toulouse is now turning to the Lot. It’s up to us to transform the test,” explains Rémi Branco.
Jean-Jacques Bolzan shares this ambition: “The international crisis is forcing us to review our policies, to relocate our productions, to work directly with the regions near Toulouse. The Lot and its high quality productions have everything to please Toulouse residents. With Rémi Branco and the actors of the agricultural world of Lot, we are working on a real partnership of reciprocity. »
Following this first working meeting with the elected representatives of the Chamber of Agriculture and Bio 46, all the parties concerned agreed to meet again in the Lot in the second quarter to define the outlines of a meeting-event in Toulouse. beginning of 2023 to showcase Lot products in the regional capital.
In the meantime, the first concrete results are appearing, as Rémi Branco testifies: “Producers from the Lot region have already contacted the services of the Toulouse metropolis to join the farmers’ markets. I appreciate this speed. »
And Jean-Jacques Bolzan concludes: “When the quality is there, the products are there. Lotois products have their place in Toulouse, we are working on it. »
