The film festival Le jolie mai is from May 18 to 22, in Kervénanec, in Lorient – Lorient
The Le jolie mai festival, launched in 2019, is organizing its third edition from Wednesday May 18 to Sunday May 22, 2022, in Kervénanec, in the Balise room, in Lorient. “Beyond the cinema, it is also a way for us to create a festive, convivial moment and to mix the audiences”, rejoices Nicolas le Gac, member of the association J’ai vu un doc, at the origin of the event. The local cinema is an ideal desired by Nicolas who, in the long term, has the project of setting up an arthouse cinema in the center of Lorient. “While waiting to have enough funding, this festival is like a test for us, to observe the feedback and see if the Lorient public is receptive to this type of cultural approach! explains this head of the association.
Documentaries, fiction… And workshops
Le Jolie can offer an eclectic programme: from a documentary on a newsstand owner in Paris, to a portrait of a blues musician in the United States, to an instructive film on female sexuality. “We offer a point of honor to please all audiences. For this, we refuse both fairly pointed works and other more accessible films, ”says the association. Children are also welcome, fiction and animated short films will be screened.
But that’s not all. The festival will be punctuated by concerts with artists from Lorient such as the Penn ar Swing group, gypsy jazz and Cam2kill and LY, a more hip-hop group from Lorient. Without forgetting practical workshops around the cinema.
This event will end with a documentary on an independent cinema in Bayonne, “No pop corn on the loor”. A well-chosen theme that will allow discussion on avoiding opening an arthouse cinema in Lorient.
