Slovakia is waiting for another celestial theater: How best to observe a lunar eclipse
We will see a rare phenomenon! On Monday, a partial phase of a total lunar eclipse will be observable from Slovakia in the early morning hours. It takes place at a low height above the horizon and interesting light can be created for light when choosing a suitable place.
In the early morning on Monday, a partial phase of a total lunar eclipse will be observable from us. It can be observed with the naked eye for about half an hour. “It will be a partial phase because a total eclipse will occur shortly before half past five, but we will have a day – the sun rises around five in the morning. We will see the moon slightly darkened in its left part before half past four, later it will sink into the earth’s shadow, ” said Pavol Rapavý, director of the observatory in Rimavská Sobota.
If we wanted to see this eclipse complete, we had to travel to southwestern Europe, America or Antarctica. The appearance of each eclipse is different and depends on the current state of the Earth’s atmosphere. “Observe the eclipse in a sufficiently dark sky. You can see it low above the western horizon – you can also orient yourself according to the bright Venus, from the far right the good point will be the weaker reddish Mars and Saturn, “he concluded.

Moon eclipse
It arises when the Moon passes through the shadow of the Earth. The moon is from the Earth exactly opposite the Sun, it is at full moon. However, it does not occur at every full moon, because the orbit of the Moon is inclined to the orbit of the Earth by 5 degrees, so it usually passes above or below the shadow of the earth. In one year, but very rarely, up to 5 lunar eclipses can occur, usually only 2 or 3. If the moon does not sink completely into the shadows, we speak of a partial eclipse.
