Historic Monaco Grand Prix: a look back at the great hours of F1
Two weeks before the Monaco F1 Grand Prix (May 26 to 29), the Formula 1 single-seaters that have written the most beautiful pages of motor racing will line up in races on the legendary Monegasque circuit. Back to the past.
Back to the automotive past and the great hours of F1 this weekend in the Principality. The 13th edition of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix starts from this Friday May 13 and will continue until Sunday May 15. Organized by theAutomobile Club of Monaco, it has – with a few exceptions – the same appearance as the previous ones, with priority given to Formula 1 single-seaters which have written the great pages of this legendary event. Nearly 200 cars, divided into 8 series, will compete in real races in the authentic setting of the Principality’s circuit… Nostalgia.
As a whole, it is an exceptionally rare field that awaits the spectators, with 8 starting grids all as different from each other. For three days, competitors will share with the public their passion for competition at the highest level, in real racing situations. With the added bonus, unlike the last Grand e-Prix, of electric vehicles which recently took place in the Principality, enthusiasts will find the noises and smells that characterize their cars of yesteryear, on a circuit, identical to 80% of that of 1929 and still used today in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship…
The program ? The free practice sessions will take place from 11 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on Friday; qualitative test sessions, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. Saturday; and Sunday races from 9 a.m. to 5:10 p.m. Note that no ticket is required on Friday. However, tickets will be required to attend the Saturday and Sunday events. Count €50 for qualifying sessions on Saturday, and €100 for a race on Sunday (free for accompanied children under 14). As to 79th Monaco F1 Grand Prix, it will follow, in another register from May 26 to 29.
