Fabregas to leave Monaco after “the worst year” of his life
Cesc Fabregas, who has only played 2 Ligue 1 games for AS Monaco this season, has confirmed he will be leaving the Principality club this summer, after a season he would qualify as ‘the worst’ of her career.
Between Cesc Fabregas and AS Monaco, it is the end of a story that will never have reached the heights hoped for when the Spanish midfielder arrived in the Principality in January 2019. The player confirmed in an interview with So Foot that he was going to leave ASM this summer, at the end of his contract.
“It’s sure that it’s over between Monaco and me, he assured. My contract expires next June, and I’m looking for a new start. My head needs a new start elsewhere.” This season, the n°4 of Monaco has only played 5 games: two in Ligue 1, two in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League and one in the Europa League. All in August and September. Since then, he has been unavailable due to hamstring or ankle problems.
He doesn’t want to hang up and is looking for a new project
Even when he tried to make a comeback with the Monaco reserve team, Fabregas had to go out injured. “It’s the worst year not only in my career, but also in my life, because when I’m not happy in football, I’m not happy in my life, he attributed. I suffered a lot this year, and it was mentally.”
Cesc Fabregas celebrated his 35th birthday ten days ago, but he does not plan to retire as a player. He has been contacted by some of his former coaches, but does not intend to hang up yet. “This year has been so bad that I can’t finish on this. Not after entering this career. I want to keep playing.” The Spaniard is therefore looking for a new project.
