Event of the Cultural Society for the phenomenon of violence
A conference on violence entitled “The dark thread of violence” is organized by the Cultural Society of Entrepreneurs of Northern Greece.
THE Cultural Society of Entrepreneurs of Northern Greece sets – on the occasion of current events – the framework for a meaningful discussion on its subject violence.
In the very turbulent times we live in, and in societies that are being tested and transformed, violence, the abominable expression of “us and others” separation and an unequal battle of “the strong with the impossible” is spreading everywhere. Its victims, women, children, young people, the elderly, people of other races, colors, religions, sports teams, sexual orientation. At home, at school, in the neighborhood, on the street. Beyond easy aphorisms, do we have the power to look for its dark thread? “Let’s see where – and possibly – we are responsible for all this?”, The announcement of the Cultural Society states.
The conference on violence will bring to the fore different aspects of the issue, which will be addressed in all its aspects. The purpose is, according to the announcement, to have a substantial discussion between distinguished speakers, but also with the participation of the public, in order to highlight the source of the outbreak of violence, as expressed and how it is transformed in society and everyday life, as well as , Like the power of various factors, such as education, can contribute to its curbing.

In the context of the event, a visual recording of incidents of violence and organization was shown, curated by PARALLAXI and directed by Christos Nikoleris. This video, which was specially designed for this event and will be screened for the first time at it, is a series of oral testimonies and images from incidents of violence. This shocking material would be the trigger for the discussion and dialogue with the public, which aims to contribute substantially to the awareness and analysis of this multilevel problem.
