Floralia returns to the market exhibition in support of the church of Santo Spirito
Come back, punctual as the flowering of lilies and rosesalso a corner of spring in the cloister of the convent of Santo Spirito in Florence, which has always been guarded by the Augustinian Fathers and open to the public on rare occasions: “Floralia for the Holy Spirit”.
There show marketnow in its seventh edition and which has seen constant growth in the public over the years, is organized by Friends of the Holy Spirit Onlus in order to raise funds to keep the Basilica openamong the few left in the city one free admission thanks to this initiative.
The appointment with the nurserymen and horticulturists of the event is for Saturday 14 May from 10.30 to 20.00 and Sunday 15 May from 10.00 to 19.00.
In these two days not only flowers but also crafts, jewelry, clothing, watercolors, molds, terracotta, furniture and design objects.
Furthermore, live demonstrations of engraving on the jewel and on a plate by the students of Lao Jewelery School The Goldsmith Arts, partner of the event since the first editions.
It’s still craft workshops at the headquarters of the Istituto dei Bardi in via dei Michelozzi: creation of a monotype print with Jessica Millar; of Cesteria with Giotto Scaramelli, Aldo Di Stasio, Paolo Taddei; “Creation of a perfume for Floralia” with Fragrance Beatrice Bernocchi by Sib; of jewelry in natural materials with Jennifer Giachi.
In the end guided visits to the Basilica and Michelangelo’s Crucifix.
Two conferences are also scheduled: 14 at 16.30 Giovanni Cipriani will speak ofFlowers in the Tuscan folk tradition ‘ while Sunday at 16 Antonio Natali will address the topic ‘The Bread of Heaven, the Eucharistic Mystery in Early Sixteenth Century Paintings’.
