Toulouse: Georges Bringuier invites us to “better understand Ukraine in these times of war”
The Popular University of Greater Toulouse invites to a conference presented by the writer Georges Bringuier, Thursday, May 12. The author proposes to better understand Ukraine in times of war.
Authors of various books on questions of secularism, but above all a fervent defender of the values of tolerance and humanism, the Toulouse writer Georges Bringuier presented a conference entitled “In these times of war, understanding Ukraine”, Thursday 12 May, at 6.30 p.m. at the Maison de la Citoyenneté (5 rue Mériel) in Toulouse. This meeting is organized by the People’s University of Greater Toulouse. After having flown over the geography, the economy and the Ukrainian population, the speaker will try to show that during its history, Ukraine underwent many dominations, sometimes approaching Russia, sometimes moving away from it. . “A link with France, the pride of Ukrainians, but unknown to us, was the subject of arms passes in Versailles and Senlis in 2017, between Putin and Poroshenko, then President of Ukraine”, explains Georges Bringuier who wonders whether “we should see there the beginnings of the war to come…” And to explain: “Two events, Maïdan 1 in 2004 and Maïdan 2 in 2014 are markers of the contemporary history of the “Ukraine with alternating pro-European and pro-Russian governments, until the 2019 elections, which saw Volodymyr Zelensky come to power, moving from the game of the small screen to the harsh reality of the international scene”.
