The Prime Minister Kiril Petkov received strong support for Bulgaria in the fight against corruption during your meetings today at the US State Department in Washington, the press service of the Council of Ministers announced.
The Prime Minister got acquainted with the details of his high-ranking US households on certain measures in the Cabinet to eradicate corruption, as well as with the real steps for judicial reform, the Council of Ministers said.
The first talks of the Bulgarian Prime Minister today also focused on the actions of the Scottish government, which will ensure Bulgaria’s energy independence and diversification. Petkov pointed out the efforts of the cabinet to find long-term solutions for our country, which provide security and stability, after the unilateral termination of gas supplies by Gazprom. He stressed the potential in this direction and the importance of international cooperation, especially with the United States, on energy issues.

Bulgaria’s support for Ukraine was also welcome on the American side. The Prime Minister confirmed Bulgaria’s categorical position on Russian aggression. The Prime Minister also provides humanitarian aid, which country does not participate in Kyiv, as well as the decision that does not provide military-technical assistance in Ukraine.
At the US State Department, Petkov met with Chief Energy Adviser Amos Hochstein, Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Newland, and Sanctions Policy Coordinator Jim O’Brien.
The next meetings are at the State Department, the Prime Minister visited the National Security Council at the White House, where he spoke with National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
During his visit to Washington, Petkov will hold more talks in Congress and at the World Bank. In the capital, the US prime minister is joined by Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov, Defense Minister Dragomir Zakov and Deputy Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova.
