Toulouse: nine medalists during the commemoration of the 77th anniversary of the end of the Second World War
Toulouse called for the 77th anniversary of the surrender of Nazi Germany, this Sunday, May 8, at the Monument de la Résistance et de la Déportation. A celebration marked by current events.
Once is not custom and it is in front of the Monument of Resistance and Deportation, alleys Frédéric Mistral in Toulouse, that took place, this Sunday, the 77th anniversary commemorating the victory and the capitulation of Germany Nazi.
In the light of the war in Ukraine, this celebration under a beautiful sun had a particular echo among the speeches, in particular the reading by the regional prefect Etienne Guyot of the message from the Secretary of State to the Minister for the Armed Forces. “On this May 8, 2022, war is taking place, so close and dramatic, the face of Europe is changed[…]»
La Marseillaise sung by children
Around the aisles, stands with many personalities including those who laid wreaths of flowers: the mayor of Toulouse and president of the metropolis Jean-Luc Moudenc, the president of the departmental council of Haute-Garonne Georges Méric, the deputies Jean -Luc Lagleize (MDDA) and Pierre Cabaré (LRM).
During the ceremony, nine recipients were decorated: three military medals, five with the National Order of Merit and one national defense medal (with bronze medal).
Several regiments were represented: the Band of Paratroopers, the banner of the 1st parachute train of Toulouse, the platoon of honor of the departmental group of gendarmerie and two detachments from the inter-army meteorological and oceanographic support center and from the European space center in Toulouse.
In closing, it was the students of the St-Joseph school group who sang three verses of La Marseillaise.
