Thessaloniki: The viral load of sewage is at a constant level – What does the AUTh research show
The concentration of SARS-CoV-2 cargo in the municipal waste of Thessaloniki is concentrated at a constant level, based on the latest measurements for the research conducted by the Sewage Epidemiology Team of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with EYATH, in collaboration with the Region of Central Macedonia and the within the National Network of EODY.
The diagrams presented by the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency show the stabilization of the viral load, with the AUTh Sewage Epidemiology team taking into account, however, the large recent sewage supply in relation to the habits and based on this element. predicts a slight de-escalation trend, awaiting the next measurements for safe conclusions.
Specifically, in the samples taken daily at the entrance of the Thessaloniki wastewater treatment plant, regarding the rational values related to the secretion of viral load, the average value of the two most recent measurements, namely Wednesday 04/05/2022 and Thursday 05/05 / 2022 is:
– Marginally stable (-17%) in relation to the average value of the two immediately preceding measurements of Monday 05/02/2022 and Tuesday 05/03/2022.
– Marginally stable (-11%) in relation to the average price of the previous Wednesday 27/04/2022 and Thursday 18/04/2022.
The coronavirus assessment methodology in municipal waste, developed by the AUTh team, streamlines the measurements of its genome concentration based on 24 environmental factors, which can alter the results of the measurements.
