Incredible clash on Saturday between Munster and Toulouse. Thomas Ramos was one of the key players in the visitors’ qualification, still in the race to achieve a formidable double-double Top 14 – Champions Cup.
Thomas Ramos couldn’t help himself: the back of Stade Toulousain kept the ball for this Homeric match on the ground of Munster, which saw the qualification of the European champions on penalties (24-24 ap, tab: 2-4). “I didn’t have the chance to be there last year, it’s huge, in a big stadium and against a big team. I fix it with a memory (smile). Even if the competition is not finished, it’s strong. We can be proud of ourselves.” Thomas Ramos, in addition to having scored nine points at the foot during the meeting – three transformations, a sensitivity -, passed his attempt during this famous session which decided between the two behemoths. Placed second in the series of three, he did not need to shoot a second time, unlike Antoine Dupont who gave him his two kicks.
“The last time I took a penalty shootout, I think it was in juniors with the Stadium, tries to remember Thomas Ramos. It was another crazy match, with an atypical end. They could have spent a drop, we too, and finally we had more composure than them. It’s only a stage, we were hot at Ulster and there too, but we still pass! to be there with a big fun, maybe in England, we’ll see…” Toulouse, in the semi-finals, moves on the lawn of the winner of the match between Leicester and Leinster. Exceptionally, the champions of France could return to the Aviva Stadium, since this is where the confrontation of the day took place due to a concert by Ed Sheeran at Thomond Park, the usual stadium of Munster.
