Nausėda: Lithuania strongly supports Moldova’s European integration aspirations and believes in the country’s European future
During a meeting with Mr Sandu, the President said that the tense security situation in the neighborhood and the worrying provocations in the Transnistrian region were becoming a disruption on Moldova’s European integration path.
According to the head of state, Moldova, as an associated partner of the EU, should use all opportunities for cooperation. Lithuania strongly supports Moldova’s European integration aspirations and believes in its European future.
Mr Nausėda also discussed the issue of energy independence from Russia with the Moldovan leader. The President emphasized that the diversification of energy sources, investment in green energy and increasing energy efficiency would prevent Russia’s future blackmail of energy and ensure Moldova’s energy security.
“Russia is using energy as a tool for blackmail. “With that, Lithuania has learned lessons in the past, so I am ready to help Moldova and share its experience,” said the President.
The presidents also discussed solidarity with Ukraine in hosting war refugees. The Lithuanian leader emphasized that Lithuania was continuing its humanitarian, political and economic support to Moldova, according to the Presidency’s report.
