Foxes Berlin narrowly win their away game in Wetzlar
With a win in Wetzlar, Füchse Berlin are keeping up with the top trio in the Handball Bundesliga. On Saturday evening, coach Jarow Siewert’s team won after some difficulties at HSG Wetzlar with 30:28 (12:15). With seven goals each, Hans Lindberg and Jacob Holm became the best throwers in Berlin.
Both teams struggled at the start of the game. In the arena in Wetzlar, which was packed with 3,122 spectators, the first goal didn’t come until the fourth minute. The foxes then took a 4:2 lead after almost ten minutes of play, but couldn’t hold it for long. Also due to a defensive that was clearly too permeable and too many inaccuracies in the attacking game, after 15 minutes it was Central Hesse who scored three goals in the front positions. The foxes could not shorten theirs, at least until the break.
And even at half-time it took a while before this was achieved. The team around Holm and Lindberg struggled with the very flexible and attentive Wetzla defense. Improvement finally brought that the foxes themselves were switched to a more offensive defensive variant. Despite a red card for Viran Morros and then being outnumbered, the Berliners took the lead 21:20 twenty minutes before the end. An advantage that the guests then brought to the end over time.
