Chanel in Monaco, Sincerely yours
For her first cruise show in public and outside the walls, Virginie Viard re-enchants the iconography of the Principality, its palaces, its Formula 1 Grand Prix, the chic of Princess Caroline and the imperishable memory of Karl Lagerfeld.
Special Envoy to Monaco
Wednesday, Monaco-morning devoted its front page to the arrival of Chanel on the Rock. Two pages rich in images, where the close and emotional ties between the fashion house and the main family are told. First, Coco Chanel’s first steps in the Café Society and the opening of a boutique, as evidenced by this ministerial decree authorizing the operation of “a fashion store (…) in one of the stores of the Hôtel de l’Hermitage, Square Beaumarchais, in Monte-Carlo“. Then, and above all, the installation of Karl Lagerfeld in the Principality when he took the reins of Chanel in the early 1980s and the birth of his friendship with Princess Caroline, which would last until the last days. She was there, faithful, in the company of her daughter Charlotte Casiraghi, now brand ambassador, to support and applaud Virginie Viard, during this first show cruise in public and outside the walls (of Paris) since she took over from his famous mentor.
