The mayor of kyiv thanks Belgium and its people in a video sequence
(Belga) The mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, delivered, in a video sequence, a warm message of thanks to the Belgian population for their outpouring of solidarity and their generosity towards Ukraine and its inhabitants hard hit by the war opened by Russia since last February.
This recording transmitted by the mayor of the City of Brussels, Philippe Close, back from Ukraine, to the president of the Brussels parliament Rachid Madrane, was broadcast on Friday during the plenary session of the Brussels assembly. Mr. Madrane welcomed the immense outpouring of solidarity that this conflict has caused towards Ukraine and Ukrainians. “The people of Brussels were not left out. I would like to salute the solidarity and the generosity shown by the inhabitants” he commented, introducing the sequence. In it, Vitalli Klitschko evokes, in English, a “genocide of our population”, the death of “thousands of civilians” in a “meaningless” war reported by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. “I want to say thank you for your work in support of Ukraine. We need the support of our friends of the help of nations and the political support of the country. We will never forget the true friends who support us in these critical moments”, said the mayor of kyiv. (Belgian)
