Sexual violence in the Church: the Dominicans of Toulouse launch a call for testimonies
Dominican priests in Toulouse are suspected of sexual assault on minors. Accordingly, the Prior Provincial is appealing to victims and witnesses on Thursday 5 May.
The Order of Preachers of the province of Toulouse is launching a call for testimonies on Thursday May 5 after the suspicion of several cases of sexual abuse of minors in their ranks. Because if a religious of the order has already been condemned for similar acts in the region, suspicions still weigh on other clerics in the province of Toulouse.
One year after the publication of the Sauvé report and so that these facts of sexual abuse are not passed over in silence, the Dominicans are therefore calling for “all reprehensible acts committed by a Dominican brother from the province of Toulouse” to be reported, either with the order or with the Recognition and Reparation Commission.

This appeal to the victims is thus addressed to all those who have reported convents in the province, located throughout the country.
On May 30 and 31, people wanting to be heard could in particular make the trip to Toulouse, but reports can also be made by correspondence. “But I also invite all victims to come forward to justice, even if they are prescribed”, recalls Olivier Savignac, founder of the association Parler et revivre, which accompanies victims of pedophilia in the Church.
