At the Capitole de Toulouse, a weekend in the secrets of the opera
The Capitole National Opera achieves a beautiful double this weekend by participating in the operation “All at the Opera!” and welcoming the Grand Ballet of kyiv.
For two days, Saturday and Sunday, the Opéra national du Capitole opens its doors to the general public as part of the 15th edition of “Tous à l’Opéra!” and welcomes, among others, the Grand Ballet of kyiv. Saturday, the Théâtre du Capitole begins this weekend stamped “All at the Opera” with visits to its splendid Italian-style room created in 1818. During the afternoon, visitors can also attend, on registration, for rehearsals of the opera-bouffe “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini which will be presented from May 20 to 29 on the Capitole stage. We can then go to the Grand Rond where the Chœur du Capitole will give a recital under the arbor of the bandstand from 2 p.m. Finally, head to the Raymond VI garden at the end of the day to attend the preview of the opera traveling “Le Bus Figaro”. This show, which will hit the road from May 9 to June 13, to meet young people in schools and colleges in Toulouse-Métropole and Gers, then Saturday May 14 in Pergain-Taillac and Saturday May 21 in Saint-Clar (Gers) , will live its first moments of madness accompanied by a highlighting of the historical and cultural context of the time of the play (early 19th century). Text, music and stage will come to life thanks to the work of Luceile Verbizier (Rosine), Pierre-Emmanuel Roubet (Count Almaviva), Laurent Labarbe (Bartolo), Fabrice Alibert (Figaro) and Michel Glasko on accordion.
Solidarity with Ukraine
On Sunday, the Opera invites the Grand Ballet of kyiv to the Halle aux Grains for an exceptional performance for the benefit of Médecins du Monde. The ballet, in forced residence at the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris due to the conflict declared by Russia on February 24, comes to present a show that was not planned in the course of the cultural season. Led by Ivan Kozlov, the troupe of 34 dancers will present a two-part show consisting of a 45-minute class and excerpts from ballets from their repertoire such as “Swan Lake”, “Don Quixote”, “Paquita “, “Le Corsaire” as well as Ukrainian plays (Sunday at 6 p.m.).
