ASM on the way to the Champions League
After seven consecutive victories in the league, the Monegasques face Lille tonight to continue in this positive dynamic. Philippe Clément’s players are at the foot of the podium and are aiming for the Champions League.
There are three games left before the end of the championship and Monaco has its destiny in its hands. A possible qualification in the Champions League first requires a victory against LOSC tonight.
The Monegasques are currently 4th in the standings, level on points with Rennes (3rd). If they win tonight, ASM will reach the podium before the last two days. Enough to spend a “quiet weekend”, as midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni pointed out in a pre-match press conference.
The only absentee on the Monegasque side, Gelson Martins, suspended and “not yet fully recovered from his injury”, assures coach Philippe Clément.

A sensational spring for ASM
Before spring, no one could believe in this rise of the ASM in the standings. And yet, match after match, Philippe Clément’s players have achieved the improbable and can now dream of the C1. The Monegasque coach has always believed in this and has been able to transmit this motivation and this confidence to his players.
Paris, Metz, Troyes, Rennes, Nice, Saint-Étienne and Angers all fell to the Monegasque ogre at the end of the season. Lille, Brest and Lens are now in the sights of ASM, which hopes to be a big hit.
LOSC in the role of referee
The Lille are 10th in Ligue 1 before this 36th day and have nothing left to play. After Monaco, they will face Nice (5th) and Rennes (3rd). They will therefore play the role of referee for this final rush of the French championship.
Philippe Clément declares in a press conference that he does not like “this kind of match” and that he expects a reaction from the opponent after his 3-0 defeat against Troyes. He adds that Lille are stronger at home with just three defeats this season.
The match can be watched from 9 p.m. on Amazon Prime.
