after the machete attack, Tisséo agents equipped with pedestrian cameras
As of Monday, May 9, Tisséo is equipping its agents in the prevention and fight against fraud department with pedestrian cameras. A dissuasive device to try to reduce incivility and aggression in public transport in Toulouse.
To deal with the resurgence of incivility and attacks on a daily basis, Tisséo has decided to equip some of its agents with body cameras. The prevention and fight against fraud service which controls users will thus be equipped withthem cameras per team.
They will be developed gradually. Nowadays, 70 pedestrian cameras were acquired for a cost of €52,000. Control and prevention officers will carry out this experiment across the entire network.
The deployment of pedestrian cameras is an essential and complementary equipment to the human presence. They will reduce the incivilities experienced by our agents and our travelers on the network. This action is part of a more global roadmap to strengthen their security.

With 650,000 passengers transported per day on the Tisséo network (bus, tram, metro), the agents of control and prevention may have to deal with incivilities.
On April 28, 2022, station des Arènes in Toulouse, five individuals had threatened and attacked 9 checking agents with machetes and knives. Following this very violent attack, the Tisséo unions asked their management for additional protective measures to ensure their safety.
currently, more than 3,000 cameras are activated 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year across the entire network. Tisséo has invested more than 3 million euros in the deployment of video protection between 2023 and 2024 in the 116 metro trains on lines A and B.
The municipal police of Toulouse have been carrying a pedestrian camera on their chests for more than two years. A tool deemed useful for defusing tense situations.
Tisséo specifies that “the device will be used within a legal framework. The records are not permanent and erased after 30 days, with the exception of use in the context of legal and administrative proceedings. Finally, the agents equipped with cameras individuals do not have access to the recorded.”
