Toulouse: Caroline exposes her doubts in a comic strip at the Minimes social center
Until May 31, the social center of the Minimes presents “The great adventure”, a comic strip in 24 boards drawn by Caroline Pinho, a young illustrator who tells her doubts and worries about our world.
The various episodes of confinement were questioned about the future number of young people. This is the case of Caroline Pinho, 27, illustrator of novels. To express her questions, the young woman exhibited “La Grande Aventure”, a comic strip of twenty-six boards: “I started this work three weeks ago, she explains, at the request of the cultural center of Minimal. I have illustrated many novels and over time, more and more authors are asking me. Illustration has become a real passion. In this work, I tell my path strewn with doubts, hesitations, fears to face. A time when I didn’t know what to do with my life. »
These plates, drawn in watercolor and ink, have Caroline as their common thread. The heroine is followed there from plank to plank. “At first we discover her rather happily and carefree, running through fields and forests. The colors are bright, marry his positive state of mind. A little longer, everything changes. Caroline stops her steps at the edge of a lake and wonders. The sky darkens, anxiety appears. The shades are dark and sad. In the last boards, hope returns accompanied by bright colors and sunshine. Caroline found answers. His life regains meaning.
“We are at a time when many possibilities are available to us and maturity is not always there to make good choices”
This exhibition is aimed at adolescents and young adults subject to a period of questioning and doubts. “The end of studies is often very complicated, assures Caroline. This was the case for me. We are at a time when many possibilities are available to us and maturity is not always there to help make the right choice. With confinement, everything got a lot more complicated, especially with the video lessons, the friends we no longer see, the lack of exchanges, the mask, etc. So many elements that have boosted loneliness, the fear of tomorrow. I needed to put everything down on paper and share these difficult times with other young people. »
Opening Thursday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Minimes social center, 6 rue du Caillou Gris in Toulouse. Exhibition until May 30.
