Toulouse: at the Zénith and at the Bikini, dream rock all month of May
After the electrified performance of Dream Theater and their effective first part provided by Devin Townsend on Tuesday May 3, the month of May promises beautiful moments of rock.
One of two things: either, since Tuesday evening, you are still stuck, haggard, in your chair in the Zenith hall, or you have not slept for two days following the fire concert given by Dream Theater. The last date of their French tour took place in effect by Toulouse and, even if the gauge did not flinch the counters, the greasy and the greasy (1) who had completed the journey got their money’s worth. It must be said that all very well (but then really) thanks to the impressive Canadian Devin Townsend who opened fire (but then really) for an hour of rare intensity. The guy, surrounded by a competition cavalry appeared under the radar in 1993 when Steve Vai chose him as the voice on his album “Sex And Religion” and for the tour that accompanied it afterwards. Two years later his solo career began and the invitation, this year, in the first part of Dream Theater was not refused, hence the report of his tour which was to go through the Bikini just a few days ago. Then came the turn of the headliner of progressive metal who, with strong video atmospheres and demonstration of instrumental force left more than one stunned. The group of Ricans recently awarded the prize for best metal performance at the last Grammy Awards proved their effectiveness with special mentions to John Petrucci (what a guitarist!), Jordan Rudess and his 23rd century keyboard and John Myung on bass, Mike Mangini on drums and James LaBrie on vocals. The experience, wild, breathtaking, inevitably turns into a demonstration of strength and dexterity on each title, but what musicians!
Iggy Pop archi complet
Like the buds of spring, the month of May will then see a nice bunch of concerts bloom like that of the French psych rock stoners of Mars Red Sky at Connexion Live (Wednesday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., 14.70 euros) before continuing with the crazy troupe of Scorpions led by Klaus Meine who suits the stage of the Zénith (Friday 1 to 8 p.m., from 70.70 to 96 euros). Two days later, the iguana Iggy Pop will play it soft at the Halle aux Grains (but it’s sold out!) and in a pleasant acoustic pop rock register, John Butler solo and Elana Stone will follow at the Bikini (Sunday 3 to 8 p.m., 28 euros). Then, still at the Bikini, big date with the passage of Peter Hook & The Light which pays tribute to Ian Curtis 40 years after his death by playing the mythical albums “Plaisirs unknowns” and “Closer” in their entirety (Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. , 28 euros).
We will then have to wait until Thursday, May 26 to listen to the indie rock of the New Yorkers of Diviv (Connexion Live, 24 euros) and, the next day at 11:55 p.m., the Fury du Bikini set with Act of Rage, Rooler, Sickmode, Dimitri K and Hackash (16.70 euros) followed, on Saturday, by Danish rockers Volbeat and progressive metallers The Raven Age (Le Bikini, 30.10 euros). So happy ? !
