Survey of the largest construction sites in Europe in Marseille and Monaco
This month, we are going to discover two incredible projects: first of all the replica of the Cosquer cave in Marseille – or how technology comes to the rescue of a treasure from prehistory – then the ambitious, but contested, project of extension of Monaco, 6 hectares nibbled away from the sea.
The sun also dresses the builders. In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the largest construction sites in France, even in the world, are growing. Also the most unusual. Projects that redraw the territory, reinvent it or even allow it.
Put on your boots, Enquêtes de region take you to incredible construction sites from Marseille to Monaco.

Direction the basements of the Mediterranean villa, at the entrance to the Old Port. For the past year, a treasure of parietal art has been revived there: the Cosquer cave. The real decorated prehistoric cave is located in a creek, 37 meters under water, threatened with disappearance by the rising waters. Specialists have therefore reproduced almost 500 drawings identically. A real human and technological challenge.

The conquest of space: this is the challenge that the Principality of Monaco has set itself, through a pharaonic expansion project on the sea, the largest in Europe. A cost of 2 billion euros to offer 6 additional hectares to this small rock of 2 km2 which continues to grow, looking towards the sky and the sea. In 150 years, its area has increased by 20%.
The show was recorded at villa E 1027 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. An exceptional site since it brings together the work of three architects by the sea: Eileen Gray, Jean Badovici and Le Corbusier, visionary architects who marked their time but also ours.
