Brussels will pump more than 17 million euros into healthcare in two years | Brussels
Brussels RegionThe Brussels government will make more than 17 million euros available for health care over the two years. That writes La Libre.
Brussels Minister of Health Alain Maron (Ecolo) indicates that the extra budget will mainly go to extra staff. It is especially important to reach the groups that are more difficult to reach in the Brussels health system, it is said. For example, a third of Brussels residents do not have a general practitioner.
The aim is to create five care areas in the region, each with one coordination between primary care, hospitals, ambulatory care and mental health care. Within those five areas, health problems of local residents at the neighborhood level should be better identified and addressed through a “local social and health contract”. In this context, Brussels is divided into 47 cities, each with about 30,000 inhabitants.
