An exhibition on the Middle Ages at the Couvent des Jacobins in Toulouse
Castles besieged, knights rescuing princesses in distress, plague epidemics and terrible starvation… Here are some of the stories commonly told about the Middle Ages. However, the recent archaeological discoveries known that this period extended over more than a thousand years is much more complex than the history books let believe.
Born of a collaboration between the City of Sciences and Industry and theNational Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research, the exhibition dedicated to the Middle Ages paints an innovative portrait of a medieval era that is as dynamic as it is inventive. Made of six thematic islandsthe exhibition offers time markers, models, maps, games, videos and other interactive multimedia.

The Middle Ages, a period of development
The exhibition “What’s new in the Middle Ages? will also be an opportunity to discover more about the innovations and invention of this historical period. Between the glasses and compasses which were designed in the Middle Ages, we will also learn that we will owe him the beginnings ofindustryor land use planning!
In addition to the thematic modules, the presentation of the results of the last archaeological research will shed light on the medieval period of Toulouse. On the sidelines of the exhibition, various other activities will be offered by the Couvent des Jacobins: costumed family visit, fun activities on the builders and on thetable artthe return of medieval Tuesdays or even gourmet visits are on the program.
