Danilo Andjusic (Monaco): “We are all living for this fifth game”
The Serb Danilo Andjusic (1.95m, 31 years old) has changed status since moving from Bourg to Monaco. His playing time fluctuates. So in Game 2 against Olympiakos, he had more than 21 minutes on the field for 22 points and 5 rebounds, and in Game 4 he was entitled to only 7 minutes and he did not have time to score any points.
That’s why the first question asked by the Serbian site MozzartSport is whether he was hurt.
“No, no, it was the coach’s decision. The most important thing is that we win and together we reach a common goal, namely the Final Four in Belgrade. As for me, I’m here to do my job as best I can and contribute as much as possible to Monaco’s games. It’s up to me to be ready. »
The arrival of Kevin Durant at Gaston-Médecin for Match 4 caused a stir throughout European basketball, and inevitably, Danilo Andjusic was asked for his impressions.
“We were really motivated to put on a good basketball show. He seemed to be really having fun, cheering and jumping around the court. Other than congratulations at the end of the match, we didn’t hear back on how he was, but I would say he liked it. We had an interesting match, it was interesting. A good show first of all, and from his reactions, it seems to me that he liked what he saw. He is a very good friend of Mike James. We knew he would be at the game, he even came before training on the day of the game to greet us. I didn’t get a chance to talk to him much, but we did meet. It’s a big thing for the basket here, the club and the city, the real promotion of the basket in Europe and especially the matches in this city. Everyone was focused on him at some point, even the game was a bit overshadowed by his presence. »
It is one of the biggest meetings of the Serbian’s career which is looming on the horizon with Match 5 in Piraeus.
“There is a huge desire in the whole team and it is felt at every moment. We all live for this fifth game. I believe we are ready and I believe in this team, we can achieve a good result. This F4 qualification would definitely complete the good season we have had so far. But we are patient, we go step by step, we are not in a hurry. We all have victory in mind and we want to prove on the pitch that we can go to Belgrade. »
The Serb confides that he likes the Roca Team.
“I am very satisfied, as well as with my performance this season, especially because I am part of the team that wants to play the Final Four. The club’s season has been great so far, and it could be even better. We can surprise, have the ability and the talent for something like this. I believe we can go longer. Nothing surprises me. It would be nice to be able to wrap up the whole story in a nice way, by going to the Final Four. And then to win the title in France, which is the goal for all of us. »
