Ben Becker plays “real scumbag” Bruno – BZ Berlin
Ben Becker (57) has taken on one of the main roles in the crime series “Boom Boom Bruno”.
In it, he plays a cop who is “a real scumbag” and has a pretty simple world view, as the announcement states: “Men are men. women are women. America the great freedom. Bruno likes to think of himself as an American cop – eating at the diner, loving his bourbon and having fun at the strip club.”
Bruno’s counterpart is his young colleague Mark (Vincent zur Linden, “Das Boot”), a young, uncommitted detective who likes make-up and glittery clothes. Together, the unlikely duo is supposed to solve the murder of a drag queen. Filming for the Warner TV series (formerly TNT series) will start on May 4th in Berlin and the surrounding area.
The six-part production is to become a series “like you have never seen on German TV before,” it says. Directed by Maurice Hübner (“Family Braun”, “Kitz”). “As brutal, funny and exciting as the story is, it tells a very close and touching core of the deepest humanity,” says Hübner.
Ben Becker (“Comedian Harmonists”, “Polizeiruf 110”) has already acted in many films, according to the announcement he now has the first leading role in a series. Another one this year is “Apocalypse” – in it Becker mentions himself in a tour of the book “Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad from autumn.
