Training in the foreground
Under the responsibility of Pascal De Maesschalck, Director of Young Player Development, Sébastien Muet will now put this experience to good use within the Academy, which he then joined at the start of the week. This arrival illustrates the desire to strengthen the management of the Academy and to promote the development of young talents present within its training center with a view to strengthening the first team.
This site is exceptional for its modernity. With these two places, we can optimize the work put in place by the technical staff of the different categories and give the players the tools necessary for their sporting progress.
About The Diagonal
“I received a warm and very human welcome from Oleg Petrov, Paul Mitchell, Pascal de Maesschalck, from everyone at the club and I would like to ask the management for their confidence, he explains. I arrive in a club renowned for its great professionalism, and I am very proud to be part of this project. At AS Monaco, the team’s DNA is strong. One of my missions will be to support the work of everyone involved at the Academy. »
La Diagonale, much more than a tool
During his first days at the Club, Sébastien Muet was able to discover the Diagonale, “a functional, operational and lively building with passionate people who bring it to life on a daily basis”, as well as the La Turbie Performance Center. “This site is exceptional in its modernity. With these two places, we can optimize the work put in place by the technical staff of the different categories and give the players the tools necessary for their sporting progress. Between the quality of the structures and the experience of the trainers and educators, AS Monaco has a real wealth. »
Assets that AS Monaco intends to optimize within the framework of the project set up by Paul Mitchell.
“Within the Club, we want to develop the talent of our young players and help them progress to the first team, underlined the Sporting Director recently. This season, Maghnes Akliouche, Salatiel Decarpentrie and Yllan Okou signed their first professional contract. With the presence of Benoît Badiashile, Chrislain Matsima and Eliot Matazo, the contingent of players from the professional group coming from the Academy has been reinforced. »
Nine players launched in pro since the 2020-2021 financial year
Since the start of last season, 9 players from the Academy have resumed with the professional group (Matazo, Matsima, Decarpentrie, Millot, Akliouche, Okou, Magassa, Lemarechal and Tiago Ribeiro). In November, the CIES placed AS Monaco among the clubs having trained the most professional players active in Europe.
As a reminder, the AS Monaco training center benefits from the “prestige” category, a label issued by the French Football Federation, which only three other clubs playing in the French championship have.
