Visitors to the spa town of Piešťany, who took to the streets on the first of May, could enjoy an excellent cake. The first five-star hotel in Slovakia, Thermia Palace, celebrated its 110th birthday with it.
The cutting of the longest Slovak birthday cake took place on the Colonnade Bridge. It was prepared by a confectionery team led by pastry chef Linda Fukasová.
“The program also includes a swing music concert performed by the band Funny Fellows,” said the Piešťany Resort’s tourism organization before the celebrations began.
According to the organizers of the events, this is the longest documented birthday cake in Slovakia. After today, it is entered in the Book of Slovak Records.
Hotel Thermia Palace is part of the Piešťany Spa. Together with the Irma Spa, it was completed by the Winter family in 1912. At that time, it was one of the most luxurious facilities of its kind in Central Europe. Thermia Palace was also the first five-star hotel in Slovakia.
