F1- Ricciardo does not want to see the Monaco Grand Prix disappear from the calendar
McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo believes that Formula 1 must not lose the Monaco Grand Prix, which in his eyes remains one of the jewels of the calendar.
Formula 1 has generated so much interest in recent years that commercial rights holders are considering perhaps skipping ‘traditional’ Grands Prix to explore new venues. Among these traditional circuits, we obviously find that of Monaco whose contract comes to an end at the end of this year as well as Spa-Francorchamps, Mexico and France.
Although the organizers of the Monaco Grand Prix indicated a few days ago that they were in discussions with the FOM for the renewal of their contract, the risk of seeing Monaco disappear from the calendar is very real, which would be a very bad news for Daniel Ricciardo.
“Monaco is special, although I love the fact that we’re adding some new circuits and new cities that we’re going to. I agree with that, because it is also new experiences and the opportunity to engage a new audience and it allows the sport to develop. » said the McLaren driver, quoted by Motorsportweek.
“I love sharing the sport with more people, and ultimately sharing our passion with more people, but there are F1 staple venues and circuits like Monaco. It’s a special weekend. Of course, in progress it’s one of the hardest circuits to overtake and I’m not sure it offers the ultimate visual experience on a Sunday, but a weekend experience in Monaco is special and unique. »
“Whether you win or not, I think experiencing all the emotions that come with competition in Monaco is quite unique and I have experienced that in my career. » concluded Australia who won the Monaco GP in 2018.
