Toulouse: first neighborhood concerns with the new Ecluse Saint-Pierre concert hall
Barely a month after the opening of the Ecluse Saint-Pierre performance hall, between the quays of the Garonne and the Canal de Brienne, residents have complained about noise pollution.
The Écluse Saint-Pierre wanted to do well: to offer a cultural and entertainment offer in the center of Toulouse when almost everything had been relocated. In the building, formerly owned by Voies navigables de France, everything has been refurbished by musicians from the Zebda group, among others, such as Joel Saurin and Rémy Sanchez. The objective is to program concerts, theatre, dance… a stone’s throw from Place Saint-Pierre, between the quays of the Garonne and the Brienne canal. The key word of the team: “Offer shows that would correspond to all the people in the neighborhood”, sums up Rémy Sanchez. Except that, the project does not please everyone. Some residents have complained about noise pollution and grumble about the new performance hall.
The shared neighbors
Yet there, opinions differ. The inhabitants of the building in front of the room, on the other side of the canal, do not seem to bother more than that. Dominique, 59, claims to have never heard anything. “I even went there and thought the renovation of the place was great. The same goes for Alex, 35, who lives with his girlfriend in one of the apartments overlooking the Garonne: “We saw that it had opened but I haven’t heard a noise since. “Only Marie, 70, who lives a little further away, admits having had echoes of a certain hubbub: “but with the windows closed, it didn’t bother me more than that. »
The managers of the theater do not deny that there have indeed been some problems. “We really want to fit in instead. We go, for example, to neighborhood associations to work with them, build bridges and have real cultural moments, ”describes Rémi Sanchez. A will a little marred by the nuisances but the manager affirms it: “We will find the technical solutions to solve these problems. »
